Nitrate Levels
Red line shows maximum recommended level of Nitrates. Users are notified by email when limit exceeded.

Usage
Here is a graph showing how much water was pumped from our wells each month. Our usage goes down by around 50% in winter.

March '24 - Our Nitrate level temporarily dipped into the acceptable level but is out of the acceptable range again now. The Board has been actively trying to find solutions and is currently exploring a well filtering option now since all options to drill a new well on the Tustin side have failed so far. The effort is ongoing and daily to solve this problem.
Understanding Nitrates
The water we pump has naturally occurring nitrates which occasionally exceed government guidelines for safety. We currently have 4 wells in operation, each with different levels of nitrates. We reduce the amount of water pumped from the high-nitrate wells to end up with a nitrate level below the recommended limit. Nitrate levels in each well change unpredictably, occasionally exceeding the guideline, so the blend must be adjusted at those times. We are exploring long-term solutions like drilling another well in a different location or filtering the water at each homesite. Filtering at the well level is prohibitavely difficult and expensive.
